Within the first: 'Like a king' illustrates the Buddha, the Tathāgata. That the responses of sentient beings were exhausted is called 'contracting an illness.' That the holy transformation ceased and became extinct is spoken of as 'passing away.' The bodhisattvas destined for good destinies who are to succeed to the Buddha's transformation are called the 'crown prince.' That their transformative virtue is not yet perfected is spoken of as 'youthful and young.' That they are not yet capable of distant transformation is called 'not yet succeeding to the throne.'
