From here down is the fourth metaphor, explaining that the four reliances are fit to receive offerings. Bodhisattvas of initial practice are called 'the remaining householders'; brāhmaṇas and others witnessing their skillful transformation is called 'heard what was done.' Lamenting their matchless uniqueness is called 'marveled that it was unprecedented.' From 'praised him, saying: "Excellent!"' downward sets forth what they marveled at. Below, the four correspondences are not in the same order as before: first it corresponds to the first; from 'protecting the Dharma' downward corresponds to the second above; from 'At that time, if the bodhisattva sees...' downward skips forward to correspond to the fourth, explaining their suitability to receive offerings; from 'If a person sees one who protects the Dharma...' downward turns back to correspond to the third, explaining that they are truly without infraction.
