次合第二、三，愚人不別。「有優婆塞」合愚小兒，「見是諸人多有非法併不恭敬」反合不別買迦羅菓，「噉已命終」謂不敬養是四依人。喻中彰其通取之過，合中明其併捨之失，皆是不別，舉之左右。

Next, applying the second and third, foolish people do not distinguish. "There was an upāsaka" applies to the foolish children. "Seeing that these people largely engaged in what is contrary to the Dharma, he did not respect them at all" inversely applies to not distinguishing and buying the kāla fruits; "eating them, their lives ended" refers to failing to respect and support these persons of the four reliances. The simile reveals the fault of accepting everything indiscriminately, while the application clarifies the error of discarding everything entirely; both consist in not distinguishing, presenting both sides of it.
