就初段中，「城市」喻眾，「有賣藥人」喻說法者，「有妙甘藥出於雪山」喻說正法出《涅槃經》，「亦賣雜藥」喻說邪法，邪言順情名為「味甘」，邪說濫真故曰「相似」。

In the first section, "city" illustrates the assembly; "there was a person selling medicine" illustrates the expounder of the Dharma; "there was a wondrous sweet medicine produced from the Snow Mountains" illustrates expounding the correct Dharma emerging from the Nirvāṇa Sūtra; "and also sold mixed medicines" illustrates expounding false dharmas; false words accommodating worldly sentiments are called "sweet in taste"; false expositions imitating the genuine are therefore called "similar."
