合中有二，先合初段，「若聲聞眾」合前城市，乃至四依亦名聲聞，四依出世現為聲聞化眾生故。「有假名僧」合城市中賣毒藥人，實無僧德假與僧名，名假名僧。「有真實僧」合賣雪山妙藥之人，四依之人實有僧德名真實僧。「和合僧」者合味相似，邪正交參名和合僧，更無別人。

In the application there are two parts: first, applying the first section, "if the śrāvaka assembly" applies to the earlier city; even the four reliances are also called śrāvakas, because the four reliances appear in the world manifesting as śrāvakas to transform sentient beings. "There are nominal saṃghas" applies to the person selling poisonous medicine in the city; having no actual monastic virtues but being nominally accorded the name of saṃgha, they are called nominal saṃghas. "There are real saṃghas" applies to the person selling the wondrous medicine of the Snow Mountains; the persons of the four reliances truly possess monastic virtues, so they are called real saṃghas. "Harmonious saṃgha" applies to the tastes being similar; the intermingling of the false and the true is called a harmonious saṃgha, there being no other persons.
