3.231

上明不犯，下次論犯，於中有三：一就性明犯；二「我已成」下就菩提說犯；三「以是義」下因人不解，妄取成犯，嘆法不思，令人仰推，捨犯成持。初中「不能作如是說名為犯」者，不說身中實有佛性，惑障不見乃云定無，名犯重罪。

The above clarified non-transgression; below it next discusses infraction, wherein there are three [aspects]: first, clarifying infraction with respect to the nature; second, from "I have already accomplished" below, stating infraction with respect to bodhi; third, from "For this reason" below, where because people fail to understand, they errantly grasp and incur an infraction, praising the Dharma as inconceivable and prompting people to revere and infer it, relinquishing infraction to achieve upholding [the precepts]. In the first part, "being unable to speak in this manner is called an infraction" means that failing to preach that the buddha-nature truly exists within one's body, and claiming that it is definitely non-existent due to being veiled by delusion and failing to see it, is called committing a grave offense.
