In the third pair, 'Thinking non-self to be self and self to be non-self is called inversion' states the general heading. Below, it explains its characteristics. First, it explains the inversion of self: 'Worldly people also say there is a self' directly adduces the inversion of self. The buddha-nature is also like this; adducing the correct reveals the erroneous. From 'Although worldly people' downward clarifies that the erroneous differs from the correct; from 'This is' downward concludes it. Next, it explains the inversion of non-self: 'There is a self in the Buddhadharma, which is just the buddha-nature' adduces that about which one is deluded. From 'The world says' downward clarifies what is established; 'The world says there is no self' directly explains the arising of inversion; from 'This is called' downward concludes it; from 'If one says' downward cites teachings to prove non-existence. Gauging by these words, the emptiness that refutes marks is definitely not the buddha-nature. From 'Is called' downward concludes it; 'This is called the third' sums it up overall.
