In the fourth pair, 'Thinking pure to be impure and impure to be pure is the dharma of inversion' states the general heading. Below, it explains it at length, within which it first explains calculating the pure as impure: 'Pure is the Tathāgata's permanence' and so forth clarify that about which one is deluded; from 'If someone says' downward reveals what is established. Below, it explains the inversion of purity: 'Thinking impure to be pure is called inversion' states the general heading; from 'If someone says' downward explains it at length. 'If one says that within the body there is nothing impure' directly explains the arising of inversion; from 'Because there is nothing impure, one will definitely enter' downward adduces the end to reveal the beginning, establishing the meaning of purity, the fruit of nirvāṇa being called the pure place. From 'The Tathāgata says' downward refutes defilement and reveals purity; from 'This is called' downward concludes it; 'is called the fourth inversion' sums it up overall. The comprehension can be understood, showing conformity with initial practice; hence it says, 'All before this are called wrong views.'
