3.325

第二番中，初先迦葉彰己不知，反依昔別，後佛重教。前中「迦葉復說偈言」經家序列，下舉所說，有其十偈，相從為三：初有五偈，迦葉彰己不識真歸，亦復不知歸之所以，反依昔別；次有兩偈審定有無；下有三偈舉佛前說不知之損，請佛教示。

In the second round, first Kāśyapa reveals that he does not know, turning back instead to rely on the distinct [Three Jewels] of the past; afterward, the Buddha teaches again. In the former part, "Kāśyapa spoke verses again" is the sūtra compiler's narrative line; below, he presents what was spoken. There are ten verses, which can be grouped into three parts: first, there are five verses in which Kāśyapa reveals that he does not recognize the true refuge and also does not know the reason for taking refuge, turning back instead to rely on the distinct [Three Jewels] of the past; next, there are two verses examining and determining existence and non-existence; below, there are three verses citing the harm of not knowing that the Buddha spoke of earlier, requesting the Buddha's instruction.
