自下一段明歸利益，對上初請。云何對乎？前問云何歸佛、歸法及以歸僧，問歸所以，今明歸依真性三歸，永離邪過，故須歸依。又前問言云何當趣無上無畏，今明如是歸三寶者則得無畏，如是答也。就此文中，先答向前云何歸佛、歸法、僧等，末後半偈答上云何當趣無畏。

The next section clarifies the benefits of taking refuge, answering the initial request above. How does it correspond? Earlier he asked how to take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Saṃgha, asking about the reason for taking refuge; now he explains that by taking refuge in the three refuges of true nature, one forever leaves behind heterodox faults, and therefore one must take refuge. Furthermore, earlier he asked how one should proceed toward the unexcelled and fearless; now he clarifies that those who take refuge in the Three Jewels in this way will attain fearlessness; it answers in this way. Within this text, he first answers the earlier [questions of] how to take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, Saṃgha, and so on; the final half-verse answers the above [question of] how one should proceed toward fearlessness.
