3.339

「歸依僧者」標牒所問，「不求外道」明歸利益，顯歸所以。若歸別相三乘之僧，此身雖不依於外道，以其依行未成就故，餘生之中容使更歸其餘外道；歸此一體真實僧者，歸真行成，永更不歸其餘外道。

"Those who take refuge in the Saṃgha" marks and takes up what was asked; "Do not seek non-Buddhists" clarifies the benefit of refuge and reveals the reason for taking refuge. If one takes refuge in the Saṃgha of the three vehicles of distinct aspects, although in this life one does not rely on non-Buddhists, because one's practice of reliance is not yet perfected, in other lives one might still be led to turn and take refuge in other non-Buddhists; if one takes refuge in this true Saṃgha of a single substance, the practice of taking refuge in the true is accomplished, and one will forever never again take refuge in other non-Buddhists.
