In the second analogy, "also like a prince" illustrates the bodhisattva reflecting that he can teach the remaining sentient beings to abandon false dharmas and take refuge in the true Dharma, and therefore it says, "reflecting: 'I shall tame the other princes.'" Reflecting that he is capable of succeeding to the Buddha's position and expounding the Buddha's true Dharma is called "inheriting the great king's hegemony." Reflecting that his own understanding surpasses that of other people is called "mastery." Reflecting that he can cause others to come together and take refuge in him is why it says "causing all princes to come and take refuge." From "therefore" downward, he encourages the generation of a great intention: because one personally reflects on serving as a refuge for beings, one should not give rise to an inferior thought.
