別中先作三句審問，然「出家」下舉佛今昔二時之言請佛會通。「如佛言曰持戒比丘亦有犯」下，存昔非今，令佛解釋。於初段中，初先老少相對作問、第二持犯、第三道俗。

In the specific [part], he first poses three inquiries, and then from 'going forth from home' downward raises the Buddha's statements from the two periods of past and present, asking the Buddha to harmonize and reconcile them. From 'As the Buddha said, a precept-holding monk may also commit infractions' downward, he upholds the past and rejects the present, asking the Buddha to explain. In the first section, first he asks by contrasting the old and the young; second, holding precepts and violating them; third, the monastic and the lay.
