法力發心答上問中云何未發心而名為菩薩，今明經力令人發心故為菩薩。於中有四：一明經力滅罪發心；二「迦葉白如佛所說大涅槃光入毛孔」下出其分齊，除一闡提；三「迦葉白云何未發菩提心者作菩提因」下就上初段明經令人發心之相；四「如空中興大雲」下就前第二廣顯發心分齊之相，除一闡提。

Generating the resolve through the power of the Dharma answers the preceding question: 'How is one called a bodhisattva before having generated the resolve?' Here it explains that because the power of the sūtra causes people to generate the resolve, they are bodhisattvas. Herein there are four parts: first, explaining that the power of the sūtra eradicates transgressions and generates the resolve; second, from Kāśyapa's statement, 'Just as the Buddha has said, the light of the Great Nirvāṇa enters the pores...' onward, setting forth its demarcation, excluding icchantikas; third, from Kāśyapa's statement, 'How does one who has not yet generated the bodhi mind form a cause for bodhi?' onward, explaining the characteristics of the sūtra causing people to generate the resolve based on the first segment above; fourth, from 'Just as when a great cloud rises in the sky' onward, broadly revealing the characteristics of the demarcation of generating the resolve based on the second segment above, excluding icchantikas.
