三「何以」下釋，釋中有三：一明久供多佛善人得聞是經，薄福不聞。問曰：供殖幾許諸佛得聞是經？釋言：聞經義通始終，今此所論是其解義能滅罪者，當應供養四恒諸佛方得聞矣。二「所以」下釋顯前句所以，「薄福不得聽聞」。此《涅槃經》是其大事，大德之人能聞大事，斯下不聞，是故薄福不能得聞。三「何等」下辨前大事，先問、次辨，「以是」下結。

Third, from "Why?" onward, it explains [this]. In the explanation there are three parts: first, explaining that wholesome people who have long made offerings to many buddhas get to hear this sūtra, whereas those of meager merit do not hear it. Question: Having made offerings and planted [roots under] how many buddhas does one get to hear this sūtra? Answer: The meaning of hearing the sūtra extends from beginning to end; what is discussed here is those who understand the meaning and are able to eradicate transgressions, who must have made offerings to four Ganges sands of buddhas before getting to hear it. Second, from "Wherefore..." onward explains and reveals the reason for the preceding sentence, [namely,] "those of meager merit do not get to hear it." This Nirvāṇa Sūtra is a great matter; people of great virtue can hear this great matter, while those below do not hear it; therefore, those of meager merit cannot get to hear it. Third, from "What kind..." onward analyzes the aforementioned great matter, first asking, then analyzing, and from "For this..." onward concluding.
