Below, it explains the inability to benefit icchantikas: first the Dharma, then the parables. From here on, four parables reinforce the previous four, reinforcing them successively from the last to the first. The first parable reinforces the fourth above, explaining that because the icchantika lacks the vessel to receive medicine, the medicine does not cure: first the parable, then the combination. The next parable reinforces the third above, explaining that because the icchantika's evil mind is difficult to break, it cannot be purified: first the parable, then the combination. The next two parables together reveal one meaning, reinforcing the second above, explaining that the icchantika's roots of goodness are difficult to generate. Therein, it first explains that other people's roots of goodness can grow again, unlike the icchantika: first the parable, then the combination. From "Like the khadira" onward, it explains that an icchantika's roots of goodness cannot possibly grow, unlike other people: first the parable, then the combination. The final two parables together reveal one meaning, reinforcing the first above, explaining that the icchantika lacks the mind to receive the Dharma: first the parable, next the combination, then another parable to reinforce and clarify.
