In the second part, regarding the bodhisattva's fearlessness, Kāśyapa first asks: "As the Buddha has spoken" marks the citation in general; "How does seeing..." etc., directly cites the words of the verse. The first two lines explain the practice of fearlessness. "Seeing what has been done" is the practice of self-benefit: seeing one's own sins oneself, repenting, and confessing is called "seeing what has been done." "How to attain the good" is the practice of benefiting others. "In what place is one not afraid?" directly explains fearlessness. "Like a king's level road" uses a metaphor to reveal it. "What does this mean?" concludes with a request for an answer. Below, the Buddha explains it: the second line is deferred until after the quiescence, while the remaining three lines are explained first. "Seeing what has been done" cites the first line; from "confessing" onward explains it, only explaining what has been done, while omitting an explanation of "seeing." "Confessing all evils, all of them confessed from the limit of birth and death" is repentance according to characteristics. "Reaching the place of no reaching" is repentance that extinguishes the characteristics of sin: contemplating sins as empty and quiescent, ultimately reaching the place of nowhere to reach; therefore it is called "reaching the place of no reaching." From "By this meaning" onward explains the third line: since evil causes have been exhausted, there is no fear. From "Like a king's..." onward explains the fourth line: first presenting the metaphor, then applying it to reveal the Dharma.
