下釋有四：一明闡提詐說大乘，誹謗小乘，以為作惡；二「如王使」下教諸菩薩弘法捨離；三「有一闡提作羅漢」下明一闡提詐說小乘，誹謗大乘，以為作惡；四「是故當知大乘」已下嘆經殊勝，令人習學，對治前過。

Below, the explanation has four parts: first, explaining that the icchantika pretends to speak of the Mahāyāna while slandering the Hīnayāna, which is considered committing evil; second, from "like the king's envoy" onward, teaching bodhisattvas to propagate the Dharma and abandon [evil]; third, from "there is an icchantika who acts as an arhat" onward, explaining that the icchantika pretends to speak of the Hīnayāna while slandering the Mahāyāna, which is considered committing evil; fourth, from "therefore one should know that the Mahāyāna..." onward, praising the sūtra's excellence to cause people to practice and learn it, counteracting the previous faults.
