4.158

下強治中，凡夫眾生無福稱「貧」，無慧曰「愚」，聞經不受名「不欲服」，經能親益名「醫愍念」。令於夢中觀見地獄名「將還舍」，地獄是其罪人歸處故名舍宅。怖令信受名「強與服」，法力遣障名「所患除」。

Below, in forceful treatment: ordinary sentient beings lacking merit are called "impoverished", and lacking wisdom are called "foolish"; hearing the scripture and not accepting it is called "not wishing to take it"; the scripture's ability to intimately benefit them is called "the physician takes pity". Causing them to see hell in a dream is called "bringing them back to the house", for hell is the place to which sinful persons return, hence called the house. Frightening them into faithfully accepting it is called "forcing them to take it"; the power of the Dharma dispelling obstacles is called "the ailment is eliminated".
