Below, when the Buddha manifests his body as free from illness in response to the supplication, the text has three distinct parts: first, his body manifests freedom from illness; second, he emits light to benefit beings; third, from "His mind free from doubt" down, he brings forth flowers to benefit beings. In the first: "The World-Honoured One's mind is perfumed by great compassion" is the cause for giving rise to the transformation; "Knowing what sentient beings each think" is the condition for giving rise to the transformation—knowing that all in the assembly have minds seeking the Dharma is termed "what they each think"; wishing to bestow benefit is the purpose for giving rise to the transformation. The previous explanation of studying the Dharma is a partial benefit; the later explanation of cultivating practice is the ultimate benefit; in order to bestow such ultimate benefit, he therefore manifests freedom from illness; from "Immediately from his lying position" down, he formally manifests freedom from illness.
