4.80

今此文中唯就初門及第三門初義辨之，文中有四：一就字體以辨半、滿，悉曇一章名之為半，餘皆為滿；二「是故半字於諸經」下結彼半字能為滿本；三「又半字義皆是煩惱之根本」下約就所生以辨半、滿，生煩惱者名之為半、生善名滿；四「如是一切經書記論皆因半」下結滿依半。

Now, in this text, it is distinguished only in terms of the first approach and the first meaning of the third approach. In the text there are four parts: First, distinguishing half and complete in terms of the graphic substance of the letters: the single Siddhaṃ chart is called half, and all the rest are complete. Second, from "Therefore the half letters are in all sūtras..." downward, it concludes that those half letters can serve as the root of the complete. Third, from "Furthermore, the meaning of half letters is the root of all afflictions..." downward, distinguishing half and complete in terms of what is generated: those generating afflictions are called half, and those generating goodness are called complete. Fourth, from "Thus, all sūtras, treatises, records, and writings rely on the half..." downward, it concludes that the complete relies on the half.
