The above is the first [section], distinguishing the half and complete based on the letters themselves. From "Therefore the half" onward is the second section, concluding that the half letters can serve as the root of the complete. From "Moreover, the half letters" onward is the third section, distinguishing the half and complete with reference to what they produce. First it explains via doctrine: that which gives rise to afflictions is named 'half', and that which gives rise to good is named 'complete'; subsequently it illustrates this with similes. From "All such scriptures" onward is the fourth section, concluding that the complete relies on the half. Therein, it first explains that scriptures and treatises all rely on the half letters; from "If one says" onward, it distinguishes the marks of the real from [the marks of the conventional]: first it distinguishes their difference, from "Why" onward it explains, and from "Therefore" onward it concludes.
