第二持中，初略，次廣，後總結之。下明持益，具五支戒。略中先明持戒之行，「既出家已，奉持禁支」慎重不為，「威儀不缺」護輕不作，「進止安詳」顯前威儀，「無所觸犯」顯前奉戒，「乃至小」下明護戒心，先法、後喻。此前略也。

Second, within maintenance, first is brief, next is extensive, and finally concludes it generally. Below, it clarifies the benefits of maintenance, possessing the five branches of precepts. In the brief part, it first clarifies the practice of maintaining precepts: 'Having left home, he upholds the branches of prohibitions'—he is cautious and does not commit them; 'his deportment is not defective'—he guards against minor faults and does not commit them; 'his comportment is calm and composed' reveals the aforementioned deportment; 'without any violation' reveals the aforementioned upholding of precepts; from 'down to minor...' onward clarifies the mind guarding precepts, first through the dharma, and then through analogy. This is the preceding brief part.
