5.35

心念處中，「或識是我故使諸佛不為我說」因前疑後，「復觀識」下正明觀心生滅非我。受念處中，初觀無我破離受者，「而於何處生貪欲」下破離受心。

Within mindfulness of the mind, 'or consciousness is the self, which is why the buddhas have not explained it to me' doubts what follows based on what preceded; from 'again contemplating consciousness' downward directly clarifies contemplating the arising and ceasing of the mind as not the self. Within mindfulness of feelings, it first contemplates non-self to refute and separate from the experiencer; from 'and in what place does greed arise?' downward refutes and separates from the experiencing mind.
