就初段中，先總標舉「修慈、悲、喜得住極愛一子之地」。極愛一子在於初地，見善心喜名為極愛，覩惡愍念稱曰一子。下別顯之，初先雙問，下對釋之，有五復次，前一復次解釋極愛，後四復次釋成一子。

Within the first section, it first marks and presents in general: "Cultivating benevolence, compassion, and sympathetic joy, one attains dwelling on the ground of the supremely loved only child." The supremely loved only child is on the first ground; seeing good and feeling joyful in mind is called "supremely loved," while beholding evil and pitying it with concern is termed "only child." Below, it reveals it specifically: first, a dual question, and below, matching explanations, having five sub-sections: the first sub-section explains "supremely loved," and the latter four sub-sections explain and establish "only child."
