「有人堀」下釋第四句，向前問言「若當爾時不得此地，何因緣故不入地獄」，然今具釋，應有三義：一於爾時已得此地為是不入、二無惡心、三以所殺諸婆羅門都無善根為是不入。文中但彰後之二義，初一不論。於中先明無惡心故不入地獄。「婆羅門法殺害蟻」下明婆羅門都無善根，殺之不入，三品殺中為是不入。

From "If a person digs..." onward explains the fourth clause. Earlier he asked: "If at that time you had not attained this ground, due to what cause and condition did you not enter hell?" Now, to fully explain it, there should be three meanings: first, because he had already attained this ground at that time, he did not enter; second, he lacked an evil mind; third, because the Brahmins who were killed entirely lacked wholesome roots, he did not enter. In the text, only the latter two meanings are revealed, while the first one is not discussed. Within this, it first explains that because he lacked an evil mind, he did not enter hell. From "In the Brahmin dharma, killing ants..." onward explains that the Brahmins entirely lacked wholesome roots, so killing them did not cause entry—among the three grades of killing, for this reason he did not enter.
