5.392

前中舉彼惡心殘害草木等事入於地獄，反顯自己於婆羅門無惡心殺，為是不入。文別有四：一舉惡心殘害非情，反問迦葉入地獄不；二迦葉正答明入地獄；三佛讚其言；四以所答反顯自己無惡心故，不入地獄。初段可知。

In the former [part], he cites that harming plants and trees with an evil mind causes one to enter hell, conversely revealing that as for himself, killing Brahmins without an evil mind did not cause entry. The text specifically has four parts: first, citing the harm of insentient things with an evil mind, he asks Kāśyapa in turn whether one enters hell or not; second, Kāśyapa replies directly, explaining that one enters hell; third, the Buddha praises his words; fourth, using what was answered, he conversely reveals that because he himself lacked an evil mind, he did not enter hell. The first section is understandable.
