5.79

初中三句：初「女答言汝甚愚癡」，以法責情，厭死求生不應法理故曰愚癡，不知斷生以去老死名「無智惠」；二「主人問」下以情審法喻；三「女人答」下法理現心喻，生起死前故言「我姊」，生死相隨故云「常與進止共俱」，斷死必須先絕其生故言「驅我亦當驅彼」。

In the first, there are three clauses: first, "The woman answered, 'You are extremely foolish'": rebuking sentiment by means of the Dharma; loathing death while seeking birth does not accord with the principle of the Dharma, hence she says "foolish"; not knowing that one must sever birth in order to get rid of old age and death is called "lacking wisdom"; second, from "The master asked" downward, the parable of inquiring into the Dharma by means of sentiment; third, from "The woman answered" downward, the parable of the principle of the Dharma manifesting in the mind; because birth arises before death, she says "my elder sister"; because birth and death follow each other, she says "we are always together in advancing and halting"; because severing death requires first cutting off birth, she says "if you drive me away, you must also drive her away."
