In the fourth clause, "This person, having heard, immediately had this thought: 'I have no need for color...'" and so forth is not seeking future birth; "nor do I have need for death" is loathing future death. Below clarifies that ordinary people create karma for the sake of birth: "He immediately said these words: 'Having eaten this food, if one's life comes to an end, what use is selling it?'" allegorically explains the bodhisattva questioning what is explained: since receiving birth inevitably brings death, what use is encouraging people to seek it? From "The owner of the food answered" downward allegorically reveals the intention of the explanation: "The wise do not buy it" selects the noble to distinguish them from the ordinary; "Only the foolish, unaware, pay me much to buy it" reveals that the ordinary differ from the noble; ordinary people not knowing that birth inevitably entails death is called "foolish and unaware"; practicing many good causes to seek that birth is called "paying a high price."
