Below, in benefiting others, the first four are specific, and 'the World-Honoured One' is general. Among the specific, the first explains the wisdom for transforming others: excellently understanding the world is called 'Knower of the World' (Lokavid). The next two explain his capacity to transform others: the 'Tamer of Men' (Puruṣadamyasārathi) is able to tame the minds of beings; the Buddha is himself a hero and is able to tame heroes, therefore he is named 'Tamer of Men'. The 'Teacher of Gods and Humans' (Śāstā Devamanuṣyāṇām) is able to confer the Dharma upon them, being able to guide and benefit gods and humans with wholesome dharmas, hence named Teacher of Gods and Humans. The Tathāgata is truly the teacher of the six destinies, but because gods and humans receive greater benefit, they are exclusively mentioned. 'Buddha' explains his virtuous practice of transforming others; translated, this means 'Awakened One': having awakened oneself and awakened others, with awakened practice fully complete, he is therefore called 'Buddha'. As for 'the World-Honoured One' (Bhagavān), the Buddha is fully equipped with all virtues and is revered and respected by the world, hence he is titled the World-Honoured One.
