二就發心趣果解釋，「善名知識，逝者名為善知識果，是世間義」，舉世語義。次約顯法，「善知識者即初發心」明起願因，「果名涅槃」明其得果，下重顯之。「不捨初心得涅槃」者，得大涅槃，不捨菩薩所行故也。「是故」下結。

Second, interpreting it in terms of generating the mind [for awakening] and heading toward the fruit: '"Good" means a spiritual friend; "gone" means the fruit of a good spiritual friend; this is the worldly meaning.' This adduces the worldly verbal meaning. Next, in terms of revealing the Dharma: '"A good spiritual friend" is the initial generation of the mind,' clarifying the cause of giving rise to vows; '"fruit" is called nirvāṇa,' clarifying its attainment of the fruit. Below, it reveals this again: 'not abandoning the initial mind, one attains nirvāṇa' means attaining great nirvāṇa because one does not abandon that which is practiced by bodhisattvas. From 'for this reason' onward, it concludes.
