The above was mindfulness of the fruit; from here below is the second, mindfulness of the causes accomplishing the fruit. 'Why does the Tathāgata, up to Bhagavant, have great fame?' questions the preceding to introduce what follows. Below, it explains in response, within which there are four parts: 1. giving the Buddha's causal practices; 2. from 'for this reason' onward, clarifying the attainment of the fruit through practice; 3. from 'furthermore' onward, adducing the Buddha's causal mind; 4. from 'for this reason' onward, clarifying the attainment of the fruit through the mind. In the first part, it first clarifies the practice of revering superiors, and from 'constantly for sentient beings' onward, the practice of gathering inferiors: first cultivating the six perfections, and then giving rise to the immeasurables.
