第四如來約後所答辯明地前始行菩薩能度生死不可思議。於中先明凡不能渡，後顯菩薩能渡不思。

Fourth, based on the latter reply, the Tathāgata explains that the ability of an initial practitioner bodhisattva prior to the bhūmis to cross birth-and-death is inconceivable. Within this, it first clarifies that ordinary persons cannot cross, and later reveals that a bodhisattva's ability to cross is inconceivable.
