In explaining what is taught, "speaking various dharmas for the immeasurable Saṅgha" generally marks and presents [the teaching]; next, it demonstrates it specifically: from "If the king hears" onward, it explains that what the Buddha teaches is suitable for the king. Specifically therein, first saying "if existence or non-existence": conventional truth is called existence, and ultimate truth is called non-existence. One may also preach that ultimate truth is called existence because it has a real nature, while conventional truth is called non-existence because it lacks true reality. "Conditioned" is birth and death, and "unconditioned" is nirvāṇa. "With outflows" is origination, and "without outflows" is the path. "If the fruit of afflictions," this is the truth of suffering; "if the fruit of wholesome dharmas," this is the truth of cessation. "If material form," this is the form aggregate; "non-material form" is the remaining aggregates; ultimate truth is distinct from those, hence it says "neither form nor non-form." "If self," it is nirvāṇa; "non-self" is birth and death; ultimate truth is distinct from those, hence it says "neither self nor non-self." Up to "neither worldly nor non-worldly" and the like, the categories are also the same. The three vehicles are "vehicles," while the mundane world is "non-vehicle"; ultimate truth is distinct from those, hence it says "neither vehicle nor non-vehicle." Creating karma with one's own body and receiving the fruit back by oneself is called "creating by oneself and receiving by oneself." Creating karma in the present life and receiving the fruit in another life is called "creating by oneself and receiving in another." In terms of the present having no cause and also having no retribution, this is called "no creation and no receiving." Ultimate truth is free from marks and can eliminate sinful hindrances, hence it says, "When the king hears of no creation and no receiving, his grave sins will be immediately extinguished."
