Jīvaka replies that it is precisely for him, within which there are two parts: first, clarifying that because the king is sick, the Buddha specifically acts for him; second, from "the Buddha does not look at beings" onward, clarifying that because the king possesses wholesome [roots], he causes the Buddha to act for him. In the former part, he first gives an analogy: "one person" is an analogy for the Buddha; "seven sons" is an analogy for bodhisattvas of the six abodes and beings of the good destinies prior to the lineage stage; "one son falls sick" is an analogy for beings of the good destinies prior to the lineage stage giving rise to karmic afflictions; "the parents' mind is not unequal" is an analogy for the Buddha's impartiality; "yet toward the sick one their mind is particularly generous" is an analogy for the Buddha's special pity for sinful, evil beings.
