In the third section there are two questions and answers: First, the king asks Jīvaka, "For what reason did that God among Gods emit light?" Jīvaka replies, "For the king's sake," fearing that the king's joy would be excessive, he provisionally says it was for his sake. From "because the king previously" onward clarifies the reason: because the king stated above, "There is no good physician in the world to treat my body and mind," this light was emitted first to treat the king's body and later to reach his mind; according to this pursuit, it truly belongs to the practice of illness. From "the king said" onward, he again expresses wonder and asks, "Does the Tathāgata, the World-Honoured One, also think of me?" He asks thus because it was contrary to his expectation.
