From "holding all" onward, questions and answers analyze and explain. That [bodhisattva] Dhāraṇīśvara first asks: "All dharmas are indeterminate; why do you speak of determinate?" Below, the Buddha first praises him and then analyzes and explains it for him. "I will create a resolute mind for King Ajātaśatru" generally clarifies creating determination; from "why is that?" onward, it specifically reveals creating determination, first questioning and then explaining. In the explanation there are four parts: first, by taking the king's indeterminate doubt as analogous to the indeterminacy of dharmas, [it shows that] since the king's doubt can be broken, one should know that all dharmas entirely lack determinate characteristics; second, from "for this reason" onward, it concludes: because this doubting mind of the king can be destroyed, I will create a resolute mind for King Ajātaśatru; third, from "you should know" onward, by taking the king's indeterminate mind as analogous to the indeterminacy of sin, it first clarifies that the king's mind is indeterminate, and from "if that king's mind were determinate" onward, it takes the mind as analogous to sin to clarify that sin is indeterminate, first inversely and then directly; fourth, from "for this reason" onward, it concludes.
