In the first contrast, there are two distinct clauses: first, it directly explains it according to its characteristics: "That which has nothing attained is called wisdom; because the bodhisattva attains wisdom, they have nothing attained"; second, it refutes and dispels having attainment to establish the aforementioned non-attainment: first it cites having attainment, and next clarifies that because the bodhisattva cuts it off, there is non-attainment; from "Therefore" onward, it concludes. The remaining contrasts are patterned on this, and the text can be understood throughout.
