6.96

下明文殊先已解知，不勞更說。「文殊將問，我知為說，即得解」者，道前三乘同性中說彼得解也。以此驗求，明知文殊前有問意，但默不彰。為此語者，彰前偈義文殊解意，不勞更釋，欲使迦葉更為餘人啟請起發。

Below, it explains that Mañjuśrī had already understood and known beforehand, so there was no need to explain further. As for "when Mañjuśrī was about to ask, I knew and spoke for him, and he immediately attained understanding," this refers to the previous statement in the section on the identical nature of the three vehicles that he attained understanding. Verifying and investigating through this, one clearly knows that Mañjuśrī previously had the intention to ask, but merely remained silent without showing it. Speaking these words demonstrates that Mañjuśrī understood the meaning of the previous verse, so there was no need to explain further, wishing to cause Kāśyapa to make an inquiry and initiate [the teaching] for other persons.
