The above is the first [part], relying on the contemplation of the emptiness of sentient beings as a remedy to abandon faults. From here on is the second [part], relying on the contemplation of the emptiness of dharmas as a remedy to abandon faults. Herein there are three: first, contemplating the faults of impermanence and suffering in the five desires; second, from 'furthermore' below, contemplating the fault that the five desires can cause sentient beings to transmigrate; third, from 'because of this suffering of conditioning in birth and death' below, mindfulness and wisdom abandoning them. In the first, 'contemplating desires as having no joy' explains suffering in terms of the dharma; 'unable to stop for even a moment' explains impermanence in terms of the dharma. 'Like a dog gnawing...' and so forth explains suffering by analogy; 'like water bubbles...' and so forth explains impermanence by analogy. 'Contemplating desires as having many faults and evils like this' concludes it as a whole.
