7.167

菩薩斷中，初法，次喻，後合，下結。法中，初思昔來造惡，流轉生死，遠三乘路，次生怖畏。下明修斷，捨惡所厭，向善所欣。

In the bodhisattva's eradication, first is the literal exposition, next the analogies, then the application, and finally the conclusion. In the literal exposition, first is reflecting that since the past one has committed evil, transmigrated in saṃsāra, and stayed far from the path of the three vehicles; next, terror arises. Below, it clarifies cultivating eradication, abandoning the evil that is loathed and aspiring to the good that is delighted in.
