下佛先嘆，後為辯釋，先答善果，答其所問，後酬惡果。善中，初先釋通此語明無定果，「汝言若人聞我說」下解通上言，明其聞經得菩提義。前中初明諸佛如來不作定說，「夫涅槃者非聲果」下明其法體定、不定義。

Below, the Buddha first praises, and then discriminates and explains for him; first answering regarding the good fruit, answering what he asked, and later replying regarding the bad fruit. Regarding the good, first he explains away these words to clarify that there is no definite fruit; from "As for what you said, that if a person hears my teaching..." onward explains away the words above, clarifying the meaning of hearing the sūtra and attaining bodhi. In the former part, it first clarifies that the buddhas and tathāgatas do not give definitive explanations; from "Nirvāṇa is not the fruit of sound..." onward clarifies whether its essence of dharma is definite or indefinite.
