上明不定，下次明定。「涅槃亦定，亦可言果」略以標舉，定如下釋。了因所顯，故名為果。「云何」下釋，先問後解，三義釋之：「常樂我淨」就德辯定、「無生老」等離過論定、「一闡提」等約人明定。

Above, indeterminacy was explained; next, determinacy is explained. "Nirvāṇa is also determinate, and may also be called an effect" briefly designates it; its determinacy is explained below. Because it is manifested by a clarifying cause (bodhaka-hetu), it is named an effect. The passage from "How so?" onward explains it, first asking and then explaining, explicating it by three meanings: "permanence, bliss, self, and purity" discerns determinacy with respect to virtues; "without birth, old age..." and so on discusses determinacy in terms of freedom from faults; and "icchantika" and so on clarifies determinacy with reference to persons.
