第三捨彼凡夫二乘取相之慈，得無緣慈。先問後辯。凡夫取著眾生之相，二乘取著諸法之相，故須捨之。彼黃門等云何名慈？黃門無根、二根女人婬情相愛名之為慈，屠膾、獵師、養猪鷄等，愛好所殺亦名為慈。明所得中，初辯後釋。「是名」下結。

The third is abandoning that benevolence of ordinary persons and the two vehicles that grasps at marks, and attaining unconditional benevolence. There are first a question and then an explanation. Ordinary persons cling to the marks of sentient beings, while the two vehicles cling to the marks of dharmas; hence these must be abandoned. How can those paṇḍakas and the like be said to have benevolence? The lustful affection among paṇḍakas without faculties or with two faculties and women is called benevolence; for butchers, hunters, those who raise pigs and chickens, and the like, fond affection for what they slaughter is also called benevolence. In explaining what is attained, there are first an explanation and then an analysis. "This is named" and so on concludes.
