次解第五及第六門，前分二門，今此通合名為有餘。於中初問，次辯，後結。辯中，初舉，次列三名。「煩惱餘報」是生死緣，「餘業」是因，此二猶前所斷業緣。「餘有」是其生死之果，此猶是前所滅有餘。

Next, the fifth and sixth gates are explained. Previously divided into two gates, here they are combined together and named "the remainder." Therein, first is a question, next the explanation, and finally the conclusion. In the explanation, it first presents [the topic] and next lists three terms: "residual retribution of defilements" is the condition for birth-and-death; "residual karma" is its cause—these two correspond to the karma and conditions previously severed; "residual existence" is its fruit of birth-and-death, which corresponds to the remainder of existence previously eradicated.
