上來六德是其自分，下四勝進。於勝進中初明修習對治功德，先問次辯。辯中，初先總明四法為涅槃因，先思後知。知中，初順，次反，後釋。「即知四法為涅槃因」是其順也，「若言懃」等是其反也，「所以」下釋。

The six virtues above are its own sphere; the following four are superior advancements. In superior advancement, it first clarifies the virtue of cultivating antidotes, first asking and then explaining. In the explanation, it first generally clarifies the four dharmas as the cause of nirvāṇa, first reflecting and then knowing. Within knowing, first is following, next is reverse, and then the explanation. 'Immediately knowing the four dharmas as the cause of nirvāṇa' is following; 'If one says diligence...' and so forth is reverse; from 'Therefore...' onward is the explanation.
