就初番中，先喻後合。喻中，「如人有病至醫」喻近善友，「醫為說藥」喻聞正法，「至心善受」喻繫念思，「隨教合」等喻如說行。下合可知。

In the first round, first is the simile and then the application. In the simile, 'like a person with an illness who goes to a doctor' illustrates drawing near to a good friend; 'the doctor explains medicine for them' illustrates hearing the correct Dharma; 'wholeheartedly receiving it well' illustrates binding mindfulness and reflecting; 'compounding [medicine] according to instructions' and so forth illustrates practicing as taught. The following application can be known.
