次明守一，先問，後辯。辯中，初言「謂菩提心出一事體」，菩提心義如別章辯。「菩薩常」下明其守護，初法，次喻，後合可知。「因如是」下明護利益，「是故」下結。

Next is to clarify guarding the one: first questioning, then explaining. In the explanation, it first states, "it refers to the bodhicitta as the single essence"; the meaning of bodhicitta is explained as in a separate chapter. The passage beginning with "the bodhisattva constantly" clarifies guarding it: first the doctrine, next a simile, and then the correspondence, which can be understood. The passage beginning with "because of such" clarifies the benefits of guarding; the passage beginning with "for this reason" concludes.
