In the second clause: "If it lacked nature" cites the opponent's view of nonexistence; "from within one thing everything should arise" refutes it to establish existence—equally lacking nature, why from within that single thing, such as clay, does everything such as walls not arise? It does not produce different things but produces only one thing, which clearly shows that what is produced does not fundamentally lack nature.
