Language
Classical Chinese

8.279

In the first clause, Siṃhanāda first says, "There is no curd in milk, no oil in sesame," and so forth, citing the Buddha's previous words on the lack of nature. From "As the Buddha previously..." onward, he refutes the Buddha's previous words about an existent nature. From "Why?" onward, he establishes his own thesis of non-existence, first interrogating, then analyzing. "Humans and devas have no [fixed] nature, hence they can become [different states]" and so forth adduces the near to analogize the far. "A bodhisattva obtains bodhi through karma" and so forth takes the far to analogize the near.
